AMTEL Exhibits at ISC

AMTEL participated in the ISC West Show held at Sands Expo and Convention Center on April 6-8 in Las Vegas. Featuring the latest in Access Control, RFID and biometric technologies, the show was a resounding success

AMTEL goes to Brazil

AMTEL joins in partnership with Start-ID to promote its products in the large Brazilian market. For the first time AMTEL participated in the Exposeg 2005 and was represented by our Managing Director Hernando Barreto who also held two conferences there. The show was a success and we look forward to a long lasting relationship with Start-ID and Renato Chulam.

XP/IP can handle practically every device on the market today!

While the Wiegand interface is the operating standard in the security industry, the non-security industry uses the RS232 as the operating standard for their devices. Almost 95% of the peripheral devices on the market follow one of these two standards. The XP/IP panel offers two ports and both these ports will accept devices in either of these two interface formats, making the XP/IP panel extremely versatile in most applications on the market today.

AMTEL Offers MiFare

AMTEL has now integrated the MiFare/iClass technology with our control panels and software. Most experts agree that this 125Khz technology used by all current Proximity Vendors will be phased out in favor of the 13.5 Mhz technology that offers significant performance and reliability advantages. Phillips is one of the pioneers of this technology and has promoted an universal standard under the MiFare label to promote this technology which is now the de-facto standard in transportation, telecommunication and other widely used applications. I-Class from HID is a variant on this MiFare technology. One key advantage of MiFare is the ability to offer Read / Write cards. These read/write cards can be used as normal access control cards, but they can carry information that can be altered at each use. For example, we use these cards to carry the fingerprint file for the user, or can be used as a DEBIT card that can be re-charged in the field and so on.

TCP/IP is now standard in AMTEL products:

The new XP/IP control panels allow us to leverage the existing LAN/WAN infrastructure that exists in many complexes to install all AMTEL products throughout the facility with minimal cabling and installation costs. Not only does this save installation costs, but it allows the system to be omni-present throughout the campus without any restriction of building boundaries. The TCP/IP connectivity also allows for remote commissioning and remote diagnostics of the system.

The May issue of the Newsletter highlights the continuing enhancement at AMTEL of all our products. The campus application of both our Gate Entry Control Systems as well our Lobby Visitor Screening systems are examples of AMTEL’s ability to handle complex projects with customization needed to fit the specific needs of the applications. Over 60% of our staff is dedicated to engineering and new product development. We will endeavor to keep our products at the leading edge of proven technology.

AMTEL now offers campus control for Guard-Gate Systems

AMTEL has now expanded the capability of its Guard-Gate System to include multiple entrances in a large residential community. The current guard-gate system provides integrated control of Resident traffic, Visitor Traffic, CCTV surveillance and remote web-access as it relates to the operation at one manned entrance.

The AMWATCH system can integrate multiple vehicular and pedestrian entrances throughout the community into one integrated system that shares a common database and common reporting architecture on the same platform. The vehicular entrances can include service entrances for construction traffic, special “Residents Only” entrances and unmanned vehicular entrances manned with “Virtual Control Stations”. In addition, the system can include the pedestrian entrances at clubhouse, tennis courts and other common areas.

Each of the gates and each of the subsystems are designed to be completely independent but the AMWATCH operating platform works on the SQL engine to synchronize all databases in each of the system and to provide seamless interface between all programs.

In addition to these Gate Entry Control Systems, the AMWATCH family of systems includes Photo-badge generation system, Parking & Revenue Control System, lobby visitor screening system and RFID based Asset Tracking and Monitoring systems.

Nigerian Connection – Lobby Visitor Screening and Management System – A Case Study

A government office in Nigeria wants to control access of visitors and authorize and monitor their whereabouts, all from a central location. A system for Screening and Management of visitors is being designed and developed by AMTEL.

There are 9 locations with proximity readers catering to the access control requirements of the employees. The readers are attached to the XPIP access control panels which are interrogated by the readers for access permissions.

There are 3 visitor-screening stations located at the Pilot gate, which are manned by security personnel. Each of these stations consists of a PC with the Lobby Visitor Screening software, Business card scanner, two CCTV cameras, and barcode scanner and a label printer.

At installation the user can define the cameras, which will stream the images of the Visitor and Visitor ID to the Lobby station. The image of the Visitor is stored in a central location against his database. The Barcode on Visitor Badge is downloaded to the panels at the validation points and the Panel at the Exit Verifier. When a visitor reaches any of the Validation points the barcode on the Visitor badge is scanned for validation and a picture of the Visitor appears on the Monitoring screen of AMWATCH.
